Jim Ruocco learned this trick from Tom Gall- a simple and inexpensive solution for the vacuum hose transition. He made one from 1-3/8 aluminum with 2 sealed ball bearings with a 3/4 ID. The seal to the headstock is made with a piece of plastic tubing that he sanded to fit. He also found a vacuum pump on eBay for about $50. There is an inlet filter, as well as a filter on the exhaust to capture any oil mist from the pump.
