Sorby Spiraling and Texturing Tool
Brian Maguire likes using this tool in conjunction with acrylic paints. He tells us to press hard and uses it a speeds of around 500 rpm.
Frank Huttenlock uses wood chips to burnish the spirals.
Dave Nowicki suggests Hartville Hardware for additional wheels, Crowne or Sorby.
Bob Crowe uses markers to color his spirals. The tool works best with end grain Dry erase makers have been used by Nick Agar according to Brian.
Tom Gall described how to sharpen the cutting teeth with a spindle to turn the spiral.
Bruce reminds us that speed counts when you want to vary the spacing of the embellishment.

Bob Collins tells us that MDI features Michael Kehs cup and ball burrs.

Shaded disks
Bruce showed us his bowl with inlay and referenced Janet Collins article in the AAW Journal (32.2:26-29) where she used brad point bits, a tenon cutter and hot sand to insert shaded disks into a bowl rim.
